Frequently Asked Questions

You want to dress in layers. No cotton: cotton loses its insulating ability when wet. Your layers should include a base layer, insulating layer and an outer or shell layer. Base layers should be a synthetic type of long underwear such as poly. Your insulating layer should be fleece or wool, something that can get wet or damp from sweat but still keep you warm. And finally, your outer layer, the shell. This is to protect you from wind, sleet, and snow. Your outer layer should have some ventilation (be able to breathe) so that you can expel perspiration.

You may want to bring a small back pack for any special medications you may have, for extra water, and extra hat, gloves, socks etc.

We meet at our office in Carlton, Minnesota adjacent to Jay Cooke St. Park located at 121 Vermilion Street.

We would only cancel our winter adventures if there was extreme cold and wind chill conditions or a winter storm. We don’t want people to freeze or risk hazardous driving conditions in the name of fun.

You must register via online or over the phone prior to the trip. If you just show up we either will not be there if no trip is scheduled or the trip is full. Please register ahead of time.
